Information about football in Kuwait

** Name : Kuwait Football Association.
** Foundation: Kuwait Football Association originally founded in 1952, affiliated to the FIFA in 1962, AFC (Asian Football Confederation) in 1964, and the Union Arabe de Football Association in 1974. There is 14 football clubs in Kuwait. The Kuwait Football Association then declared by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor under no. 95/79 on 10/12/1979 in accordance with the provisions of the Law no. 42 for the year 78 in respect of clubs and general welfare societies to encourage, spread and promote the standard of football game within the state of Kuwait and to take part in Arab and International activities connected with the game in this field in co-operation with the members clubs.

There are another three international club stadiums for which capacity varies from 20,000 to 23,000. ** Participation in AFC Club Competitions : Kuwait clubs are fully committed to take part in these events every year. Kazma SC has reached the Semi Final of the 16th Asian Club Championship 1996 but withdrawn to avoid playing against an Iraqi Club. In the 9th Asian Cup Winners Cup 1998, Kazma SC also reached the Quarter Finals Round and withdrawn to avoid playing against an Iraqi club. Kuwait SC is the AFC Cup 2009 winner.
